Maybe I should have titled it "Back to what is considered the Social Norm - school". Because this is feeling anything BUT normal for our NavyLang family. Attending a public school in the suburbs with a heavy Caucasian population - never been done. Ever.
We were up before the sun (gasp). And just so you know, we can see the sun rise all the way from Kansas out here. Sorry Misse - no mountains adding to the drama of the morning bursting open for the day.

I keep telling myself the 'Grandfather approved' Watsonville strawberries helped counter some of that cheesy, gloopy goodness of a casserole. And have you tried the Galvanina Blood Orange Beverage from Costco? Believe me - it's perfect for an occasion like this morning.
It's not even 9 in the morning and I'm antsy. I find myself wanting to keep really busy so I don't have too many quiet moments where my mind wanders - wondering how the kids must be doing.
At least the landscapers are around to help pass the day.

I have never heard hashbrown casserole called funeral potatoes. Sound fabulous. They will do great. Just like you. I hope they had a great first day!
Keep researching flights to Memphis and what to do while you're here. That should keep you busy.
You haven't heard the reference of Funeral Potatoes because you've never been to a Mormon Funeral. They're a standard across the globe.
Madi always chooses them for the 1st day because of her somber mood.
Ooo... Chan, I just realized you have all of this ALONE time. After a year of having everyone around, you may be in for the most difficult adjustment!!! Maybe you could begin quilting?!? :)
I hope all goes well and so glad to hear the reason why you have funeral potatoes for breakfast! Love you all!!!
I'm not wired to be alone for hours at a time. Quick run to the store, sure. But not this. I need happy and content home noises!
Cute pic Maddie! I hope you find school to be better than ever! Hey I can see Kansas in the window behind you!
JulieElmont:That whole "you can't experience true joy if you haven't experienced sorrow (love/loss, good/bad, etc.) could apply here. I'm just not sure which side your current situation would fit. :) Good luck!

ChantelleLang: Sometimes I get stuck in the infinite Grass is Always Greener Syndrome. Darn that!
The kids had a "decent first week". Really, I should be doing cartwheels . . . Obviously I'm having the harder time adjusting :)

JulieElmont: I guess just be grateful you've taught them well and they'll survive. And just so you know, the neighbors' grass IS always greener. :)

TaraLallatin: Man, my kids chose pop tarts for their first day of school breakfast. I need to encourage something fun and different. Glad the first week went good!
