Take time to smell the frangipani

I just came in from our nightly cockroach dive with Molly. While we were outside enjoying the evening chill I noticed this wonderful familiar scent. The plumerias are in full bloom! The scent of that tropical flower is incredibly intoxicating. (And I'm not referring to the body lotion type)

I've had a love affair with this particular flower that dates back to our first visit to Hawaii many years ago.
I was so excited when we arrived on Guam to see plumerias everywhere! I thought I had landed in paradise (a ghetto paradise, but still . . . .)

In 2005 while I was in Hawaii having some ugly skin cancer removed, my sweet David planted a plumeria tree directly out our back window in Guam. It was one of the best welcome home gifts a girl could have ever imagined!

Like I said - it's a beautiful and exotic botanical.

And unfortunately there aren't any in Colorado Springs!

As I came back in the house tonight, I decided I need to go back for a brief re-sniff; just for those of you who aren't able to enjoy it for yourself right now.

If you can't play with the big dogs . . . .

.... Don't go to the beach!
(a typical Sunday at Dog Beach on Hickam. Molly actually loves it!)

Doin' the Cockroach Dive

While awaiting one last glimpse of the USS Ronald Reagan leaving Pearl Harbor for the colder waters of San Diego, Molly helped pass time demonstrating her obsession with the ever present cockroaches.
As entertaining and/or disgusting as Molly's pre-show was, the Supercarrier was quite a show stopper.
Packed full of "Tigers" (they're all the family members not in uniform lining the flight deck) - you know this is bound to be a week of adventure for the ship and her crew.

The Suite Life

Today marks our two week anniversary on the island.
What better way to celebrate than by moving . . .
. . . . . to a new room!
Moving up in the world of lodge living gives us 2 tv's AND a couch! Not to mention 2 additional chairs at the little bistro size table. Bliss I tell ya!

Popcorn Monster

Don't let this sweet face fool you!

If anything gets between Molly and her popcorn - you better watch out!

Click on the video to watch just how serious she is . . . .

C'mon, who's getting excited to meet her!?

The bobbin is the Devil!

I hate sewing!
Sure, I pretend it's fun:
Picking out something to make.
The cute patterns of the fabrics -
the thought of it turning out just like the picture.
Until I actually USE a sewing machine and start fighting with that dang bobbin and tension . . . Well let's just say it brings out my not so nice side.
It brings out my "sewing words" and everyone scatters!

But then somehow, the project comes together.

And it's so dang cute!!!

It makes me almost consider taking up sewing.

Molly got spoiled!

Thailand was incredible!

It was such a feast for the senses.

I'm still at a loss for words of how to describe it all.

I can't wait to post all about it - but I need to wait for all the pictures from the other ladies.
'Cause we all know - pictures speak a thousand words.
In the meantime, I wanted to put on a Molly Moment for Tiffany.
While Madi and I could talk ourselves out of buying "another bag" or "another adorable shirt" we were suckers when it came to the pet section of the Chatuchak Market in Bangkok.
Molly got the most "souvenirs" (to borrow my niece's favorite word!) of anyone in the family.

Amy has already posted the first few days of our travels on her blog.

I love her elephant stories. You should go check it out here http://lotyry.blogspot.com/

A Molly Moment

Molly is a rock star around here.
Everyone she sees (human or otherwise) is absolutely her very best friend.
It doesn't matter if she saw you just two minutes prior or if she's never laid eyes on you.
She just wiggles and squiggles with delight at everybody and everything.
The other canines in the neighborhood aren't as eager to share Molly's enthusiasm.
Here she is with Roxy - who lives next door.
I really need to get a shot of Clarence - a dog who lives a street away.
He just does not get what Molly's all about and starts whining when he spots the fluffball!

And lo . . .

The LouHoo!

Still in tact even after a good round of shrew chasing.

example of a stinky musk shrew (or more commonly known as the house shrew):
These guys are stinky, sqeaky loud little buggers that roam our neighborhood and houses like they own the place!
And they leave the most nasty presents EVERYWHERE!

Completely useless information

Molly is up to 3 pounds . . . .

Guam has the absolute largest snails on the planet.!

David brought me flowers the other day.
He wanted "something different".
The ants were included free of charge . . . .

And we still don't have orders!
